LevenLeven was once a busy fishing port at the mouth of the River Leven. The original industry has been replaced by light engineering and tourism. Leven's long sandy beach is popular with visitors from near and far, and the town offers a pleasant pedestrianised High Street, swimming pool and nearby parks and gardens. The large caravan site on Leven's coastline is popular during summer months. Worth visiting is the nearby Silverburn, with it's gardens, woodland walks and childrens farm. Leven is an ideal centre for the golfing holidaymaker, offering two courses - Leven Links (an Open Championship qualifying course) and Scoonie, the municipal course. Nearby is Lundin Links golf course, another Open qualifier. |
Fife Facts In 1601 the General Assembly convened in Burntisland church, where King James VI proposed a new translation of the bible. |
