From a fishing perspective, it differs from the rest of the region by having no coarse fisheries as
such, a lot fewer lochs and reservoirs, and greater distances between the individual waters. There is,
of course, less need for reservoirs in an area where the demands of industry and the associated workforce is
considerably less. However, North and East Fife contain the River Eden which can lay claim to being
the region's premier salmon fishery, and also, some say, the finest and most challenging dry fly water
in Scotland.
Sea angling is well catered for here as well, with charter boats available for hire from the harbour towns
around the East Neuk. The shoreline fishing differs from the other half of Fife, having more
rock fishing and a more diverse range of species to go after.
The character of the people here is more laid-back and relaxed. The hustle and bustle of the
industrial towns seem very far away, and any noise pollution is more likely to come from a herd
of cattle than a factory whistle. It's a great place, we like it...we think you will too!
