This water is the flagship commercial fishery of Fife. Situated three miles NE of Dunfermline, on the
outskirts of Kingseat on the B912, it is an easily located water. Whenever you arrive at Loch Fitty
there is always a bustle of activity which makes you want to jump in a boat and get at it!
Considering that areas of its northern hinterland are the subject of an open cast mining operation, it
has remarkably scenic and natural vistas. Of course, it is one of Fife's very few natural lochs which
means it has natural slowly shelving shorelines, and a relatively shallow overall depth - first class
for drift fishing.
The fishery is run by the MacKenzie family, and Gerald MacKenzie, who is in direct charge, runs a very
efficient, welcoming, friendly and businesslike operation. The business philosophy behind the Fife
Angling Centre is to provide the angler with what he wants - given the nature of anglers everywhere, a
task bordering on the impossible. To this end the lodge facilities are excellent with an excellent cafe,
and an extremely well stocked tackle shop.

As stated below, the boats are excellent and the recent introduction of Irish three-man craft now means that this
Fitty facility outranks those of neighbouring fisheries.
Fitty is very weather dependent when it comes to the co-operation of the fish, and generally, boats tend
to fish the head of the wind. However, light or moderate south-westerlies and westerlies can give good
drifts along the North Shore and Car-Park Shore during the summer months, and up into Swan Mussel Bay (if
the anchored boats will allow!). Sheep's Heid in the early-mid parts of the season, and the Cushat's Wood
from mid-late, are local hot-spots.
Fishery staff advise that on a month to month basis, intermediates are the most popular and useful lines on
Fitty, with sinking and fast sinking being useful in the very early and late months, and floaters becoming
an essential addition for the middle part of the season.
A friendly, welcoming fishery where the staff will attempt the impossible to satisfy the customer. A great
place to start your exploration of Fife!
