Current Projects

Development of an interactive presentation to alert children to the potential dangers of using online communities. Created in conjunction with Fife Constabulary, and linked to the Think U Know campaign.

Past (and ongoing) work

Developing interactive media and e-learning materials for the Sport and Leisure department at The Adam Smith College, Fife.

Developed SQA units and a National Progression Award to match the Adobe (formerly Macromedia) Digital Design: Foundations of Web Design curriculum as part of the Digital Media and ICT Vendor Alliance (DIVA).

A research project, investigating the use of computer games in developing teamworking and problem solving skills. Undertaken as part of SFEU's Focus On Learning 2 project to develop new ways of teaching 'employability' skills.

The Koala Encounter animation was developed for Mike Kane, a Scottish photographer, who has been documenting the work of the Koala Hospital and Study Centre in Port Macquarie, Australia, since 2004.

Produced for Channel 4's Ideasfactory by Eyeline Media, the Think Design micro-site features videos and games on different aspects of design. My contributions to the site are the 'Cheat the Chav' game, about designing low crime housing estates, and the Mind Mapper tool.

A website for Fife based catering company, Emerald Catering, featuring sound and visual effects, delivered in Macromedia Flash.

Produced by Ink Animations and written by Mary Simpson. This short film involves some Pandas that are 'affected' by a short stay at Ruftoon Zoo! Premiered at Dundee Contemporary Arts, 29th March 2005. Broadcast on Channel 4, July 2005.

A joint project between Fife Constabulary, Fife Education Service and the Mid Fife Crime Prevention Panel. Screensavers on the themes of vandalism, drug / alcohol abuse and other crimes are being developed for use on computers in schools.

A Scottish Qualifications Authority funded project, managed by the Scottish Further Education Unit to provide a portal to useful websites for on-line learning.

A website / photo gallery for Double M Photography who specialise in sled dog racing.

Play Condition Black, runner-up in the 3D Flash game contest at Flash Game Coders.

A script and storyboard for a short animated film for Channel 4's Ideasfactory, involving a Father's attempt at bonding with his Baby.

Play a Flash game, based on a retro console game. This was the winning entry in a retro games competition on the Flash Game Coders website. Developed with Greg Innes.

A cooperation between Teknical, DA Group and Fife College to use virtual characters in learning and support materials in Virtual Learning Environments.

Coleg On-Line Assessment - a project involving the creation of on-line, objective, formative assessments for use by colleges in Scotland. The project is due to go live in October 2004, with the next phase of summative assessments being developed during 2004-2005.

This site was developed in late 2003 / early 2004 to celebrate the 700th Anniversary of the Links Market, Europe's longest street fair. A number of students from Fife College contributed to the site by producing animations and artwork.

This site, for a luxury tours company, was developed in 2000 in collaboration with a foundling IT / web development company. The main feature of note on the site is a 'search / shopping cart' system developed in PERL.

There was very little tourist information on the web about Fife back in 1997 when I first started work on this site. It started as a photography website featuring scenic pictures of Scotland, but I changed the focus (no pun intended) to Fife, where I live and it grew from there.

A 'Psycho-Geometric' testing questionnaire developed in Flash for American psychologist, communications guru & best-selling author Dr Susan Dellinger

I produced an animated introductory sequence for this website, inspired by a railway advert from the 1930's, featuring golfers on the Old Course at St Andrews. It no longer exists in its original form, but the animated golfer still appears on the current website.

Photographic work

I worked as a photographer for a number of years, taking landscapes and scenic stock photography and doing the occasional newspaper feature, as well as covering events such a pop concerts, Highland games and the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. I don't do quite as much as I used to, but photography skills have come in useful in a number of multimedia projects. The most recent job I did was to shoot a 'Calendar Girls' style calendar!
