Koala Encounter

Koala Encounter was developed for Mike Kane, a Scottish photographer, who has been documenting the work of the Koala Hospital and Study Centre in Port Macquarie, Australia, since 2004.

Mike had been asked to do a talk at Edinburgh Zoo on the subject of the hospital, to tie in with the Zoo's latest Koala exhibit.

Mike produced a presentation featuring photographs and video taken at the hospital, but wanted a short, funny animation to lighten the mood of the presentation which features some disturbing images of Koalas being treated at the hospital for a variety of injuries and conditions.

The animation was developed in Flash, with freeware sound clips and music obtained from FlashKit.com.

For the presentation, which was made in software that doesn't support Flash, I published the Flash Movie as Quicktime, then imported it into Adobe Premiere where I added the sound, and tweaked the timing. The final movie was then delivered as an AVI movie for insertion into the presentation.
